On Friday December 18, a man was killed in a two vehicle crash approximately one mile south of Alexander, ND.
Authorities have stated that 42 year old Jammie Petras, aged 42 from Alexander, ND was driving a 2011 Ford F250 heading north on Highway 85 from New Town to Sidney, in the right hand lane of the two lanes. James A. Stanik, aged 52, was heading also heading northbound in the right hand lane in a 2004 Peterbuilt semi on Highway 85 traveling from Alexander to Williston. A school bus traveling in front of Stanik slowed down in order to turn right up ahead which in turn caused Stanik to slow down. Petras’ vehicle struck the trailer that Stanik was towing from behind with such force that his Ford vehicle was embedded in the trailer when both vehicles came to rest.
Petras was killed and Stanik was taken to McKenzie Country Hospital in Watford City suffering from minor injuries.
