On Friday evening, October 18, a Bismarck man was injured in a single vehicle rollover accident near Dunseith.
According to the North Dakota Highway Patrol, the accident happened on 97th Avenue Northeast near Dunseith at around 9.30 p.m. when 27 year old Jay Michael Lavallie was driving a 1998 Mercury Mystique eastward and momentarily lost control of the vehicle. First he entered the south ditch and then overcorrected too far to the left and the car flipped and rolled several times.
Lavallie was not wearing a seat belt and he was seriously injured. He was first taken by ground transport to the Quentin Burdick Memorial Hospital in Belcourt, N.D., and then later he was transported by air to Sanford Health in Bismarck to be treated for his injuries.
According to police, Lavaille was driving while intoxicated and he was charged with driving under the influence and driving while his license was suspended.
